Meet Coach Bryanna!
Hello, my name is Bryanna Barcelo. I am excited to be a part of the Northington Fitness and Nutrition online coaching team. I am hopeful that I will be able to help you along your fitness journey and accomplish your goals.
I have always been passionate about fitness. During my young years, I stayed active by participating in several sports. I was part of my high school’s cheer squad and track team. After high school, I attended the University of Arizona. I graduated with a double degree in Nursing and Spanish with a minor in Public Health.
During my freshmen year of college, I realized I needed to find a way to stay active. I decided to join a gym. I remember going to the gym and not knowing what I was doing. I would stay on the treadmill because I wasn’t sure how to use any of the equipment. I started to research training further. I made it a goal to find a new workout every day and see what movements I preferred. Quickly I began to get the hang of using the equipment at the gym, and knew I loved strength training!
I consistently went to the gym throughout college; I prioritized my education and used the gym as an outlet to de-stress after long days. During my last semester of nursing school in 2015, I was approached at the gym by a trainer/coach who asked me if I had given any consideration to competing. I hadn’t. I decided to attend a local show. After watching the girls on stage, I immediately knew I wanted to compete.
I competed in my first show November 2015, where I won second in my class. Earning second place gave me the motivation to work hard for a win. Since then I have competed in 4 additional shows where I placed first in my class as well as one national show where I placed sixth.
From joining a gym for the first time to stepping on stage, to now coaching other girls, I have learned so much. I have learned my way around the gym and the kitchen. My training style and competition preps have evolved. When I competed in my first show, I was doing endless hours of cardio, and I was scared of eating a single carb! After this first show, I felt so unhealthy. I knew this was the wrong approach. Using my experience with nutrition and my extensive education on the human body I started preparing for my next show.
It is important to me to develop proper habits and help my clients do so as well. I have helped others change their ways from overexercising, overtraining, disordered eating patterns, and improving their mindset. By having a well-balanced diet, tailored training and the right mindset you will have the desired outcomes you’ve always wanted.
Aside from coaching nutrition and training, I am also a posing coach. Have you ever heard the saying, “see one, do one, teach one?” That’s what I did. I would see, I would practice, and I would teach posing. I started by instructing my inner circle. As time went on, other competitors contacted me. I have found that I love coaching posing. I can’t wait to help you rock the stage, should your fitness journey take you there.
My love for fitness continues to grow. Fitness has not only brought health into my life, but it has also opened doors, brought new opportunities and people into my life. As my fitness journey continues, I hope you join me! I look forward to potentially working together.
